While the prototype we caught testing at the Nordeschlife is heavily disguised, we can say with some certainty that the modern Z3 will draw many of it's styling cues from the X Coupé that was shown at Detroit earlier this year. The front also rear lights from the X Coupé will feature on the Z3, as will the wide kidney grille. The bonnet will be slightly shorter than the current car, while the boot will be longer with it's raised rear deck
again reminiscent of the X Coupé, giving the machine better proportions than the current model.
The flanks of this prototype are the most heavily disguised part of the machine leading us to believe that some of the X Coupé's so called 'flame surfacing' design cues juxtaposing concave also convex surfaces will too feature. The machine will be built at BMW's Spartanburg plant in South Carolina, also Dr Helmut Leube, head of BMW's Manufacturing in the United States, has confirmed that the plant is already gearing itself up for produ
ction.
